Biografia
Gerard García-Ventosa, designer and architect responsible for projecting Agbar Tower's interiors, describes the solutions that have been adopted in Jean Nouvel's Tower and explains the conceptual process followed to achieve them.
[...] Gerard García-Ventosa (Barcelona, 1951) qualified as an Architect (1977) and Doctor of Architecture (1993) from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB) of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), with the thesis "Capitals in the work of Domènech i Montaner", with Oriol Bohigas as tutor, and Graduate in Legal and Forensic Architecture from the Pompeu Fabra University (2004). Since 1977, he has developed his professional activity through the studio García-Ventosa Arquitectes Associats. Also, since 1984, he works as forensic expert for the Administrative Contentious Courtroom of the Upper Court of Justice of Catalonia.
He was a teacher at the ETSAB (1974-1990) and member on the Final Course Project Panel (1980-1990). He also taught interior design at the Escola Massana (1983-1984).
He has been a Culture voting member of the Architects School of Catalonia (COAC) and in charge of the library, historic archive, exhibitions, conferences and publications (1981-1985, 1986-1988 and 1994-2000).
He was a board member of the ARQ-INFAD (1992-1996) of the Forensic Technical Experts Group (1993-2000) and of the Cultural Heritage of Barcelona Territorial Commission (1994-2000). He is a patron of the Lluís Domènech i Montaner Foundation (2006).
He was managing director of the 1st Design Applied to Architecture Exhibition (MIDA), held from 1st to 6th July 1996, within the framework of the XIX International Union of Architects Congress (UIA).
He is author of the video series Catalan Architecture since the '80's (1987), made by the COAC and the ETSAB, entitled: "I: Restoration Works", "II: Public Spaces", "III: New building", which were selected by Videoarco '88 and in the International Architecture and Town-planning Film Festival of Lausanne (FIFAL) 1991. He is also author of the book Torre Valentina, a landscape project, by the architect Josep A. Coderch de Sentmenat (Ed. Rueda) and co-author of the book and exhibition Architectures absent from the 20th century (Ed. Tanais). | "La Torre Agbar. The interior" (Edicions UPC)
